Artistry

= Influences =

Growing up, JID's first connection with music was through his parents' collection of classic funk and soul LPs.{{cite web|last=C.M.|first=Emmanuel|url=http://www.xxlmag.com/news/2017/02/j-i-d-interview-the-break/|title=The Break Presents: J.I.D|website=XXL|date=February 24, 2017 |access-date=April 25, 2017}} He names Lil Wayne, Sly and the Family Stone, D'Angelo, Wu-Tang Clan, boom bap, Jay-Z, Earl Sweatshirt and Little Dragon as his biggest influences.
