Fictional character biography

Jack T. Chance is from the planet Garnet, also known as 'Hellhole' because it is one of the worst criminal worlds in existence. He is chosen by the ring of deceased Lantern Pathavim Seth-Ottarak and becomes a Green Lantern. However, he rejects the idea of a uniform, refusing to wear anything other than his own clothes with a badge added.

Chance hunts down the man who killed Pathavim, intending to kill him, only to find the ring had a failsafe against lethal force. As such, he uses a normal firearm to kill him. In response, the Guardians force Chance to undergo training and a probation period before he can continue serving in the Corps.Green Lantern Corps Quarterly #1Green Lantern Corps Quarterly #8Green Lantern (vol. 3) #49 (February 1994)Image:Jacktchancedeath.PNGIn the aftermath of Emerald Twilight, Chance is captured by the Manhunters and used as a power source for their software.{{multiref2|Green Lantern (vol. 4) #3 (August 2005)|Green Lantern (vol. 4) #11 (May 2006)|Green Lantern (vol. 4) #12 (July 2006)|Green Lantern (vol. 4) #13 (September 2006)|Green Lantern (vol. 4) #21 (July 2007)
