Early life
Eaton and his brother Jett (two years his senior) are the sons of Geoff Eaton, owner of the Kids That Rip (KTR) Skateboard School, a school that trains a number of junior X Games competitors.[https://www.espn.com/espnw/athletes-life/story/_/id/9528118/espnw-alana-smith-blurs-lines-genders-skateboarding Smith blurs skateboarding gender lines] by Isabelle Khurshudyan (EspnW, August 1, 2013) Both brothers started skateboarding under their father's tutelage at a young age, with Eaton commencing at four years of age.[http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/story/22905457/2013/07/22/arizona-stakeboarding-phenoms-to-compete-in-x-games Arizona skateboarding phenoms to compete in X-Games] (Fox News Phoenix, July 23, 2013)[https://www.tampabay.com/sports/humaninterest/jagger-eaton-11-ready-to-take-on-megaramp-at-x-games/1237632/ Jagger Eaton, 11, ready to take on MegaRamp at X Games] by Bob Putnam (Tampa Bay Times, June 27, 2012) He is the son of Shelly Schaerer, a member of the United States national gymnastics team from 1985 to 1989.{{citation needed|date=August 2021}}
Career
Along with his brother Jett and fellow junior skater Tom Schaar, Eaton was sponsored by DC Shoes as part of their 2012 initiative, the "DC Youth Division".[http://skateboarding.transworld.net/1000166497/web-videos/dc-shoes-rediscover-youth/ DC Shoes: Rediscover Youth] (Transworld Skateboarding, October 5, 2012) Transworld Skateboarding magazine's Blair Alley called the brothers "the future of vert skating".[http://skateboarding.transworld.net/1000115858/news/dc-shoes-the-future-of-vert/ DC Shoes, The Future Of Vert] by Blair Alley (Transworld Skateboarding, July 14, 2010)
Eaton was featured in the Esquire Magazine: Life of Man 80th Anniversary edition that was published in October 2013.[http://lifeofman.esquire.com/gallery-mann.html Life of Man: Mark Mann Gallery] {{Webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20131004201509/http://lifeofman.esquire.com/gallery-mann.html |date=October 4, 2013 }} (Esquire Magazine, 2013)
A number of regular skateboarding commentators have been critical of Eaton's participation at professional-level skateboarding events, including Bob Burnquist who believes that separate junior divisions should be established for competitions.[http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1241072-jagger-eaton-11-year-olds-rise-hurts-skateboardings-credibility Jagger Eaton: 11-Year-Old's Rise Hurts Skateboarding's Credibility] by David Daniels (Bleacher Report, June 29, 2012) David Daniels of Bleacher Report suggested that Eaton's entry (and that of others his age) in professional competitions harms the credibility of skateboarding in the sporting context.
Eaton appeared on episodes of Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory and Ridiculousness that aired in January 2015. A reality TV series named Jagger Eaton's Mega Life aired in September 2016 on Nickelodeon. He also appeared on the September 13 Episode of WWE SmackDown in a backstage segment with The Miz.{{citation needed|date=July 2017}}
