Playing career
=Notts County=
Born in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Sheridan joined Notts County from Dunkirk on 5 August 2005. Sheridan, under the guidance of manager Gary Mills, made his debut for Notts County on 6 August 2005 in a scoreless away fixture against Torquay United.{{cite news |title=Torquay 0–0 Notts County |url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_3/4746319.stm |work=BBC Sport |date=6 August 2005 |accessdate=6 August 2005}} Just six days later he and teammate Stacy Long were offered one-year deals by County.{{cite news |title=Notts County offer deals to pair |url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/notts_county/4145408.stm |work=BBC Sport |date=12 August 2005 |accessdate=12 August 2005}} During the 2005–06 season, Sheridan established himself as a regular in the team making 27 appearances and scored his only goal for the club in a 1–1 draw away to Wrexham.{{cite news |title=Wrexham 1–1 Notts County |url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_3/4494858.stm |work=BBC Sport |date=10 December 2005 |accessdate=10 December 2005}} Sheridan agreed a new one-year deal at Meadow Lane on 22 May 2006.{{cite news |title=Sheridan signs new deal at County |url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/notts_county/5004434.stm |work=BBC Sport |date=22 May 2006 |accessdate=22 May 2006}}
The following season proved a little more difficult for Sheridan, with the midfielder only making a total of three league appearances, and finding himself on the wrong side of the retained list for the 2007–08 season.
=Tamworth=
On 2 July 2007, Sheridan teamed up with his former Notts County manager Gary Mills at Conference North side Tamworth, agreeing a one-year contract.{{cite news |title=Signing spree |url=http://www.thelambs.co.uk/news/signing-spree-629.htm |publisher=Tamworth F.C |date=2 July 2007 |accessdate=2 July 2007 |archive-date=28 September 2011 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110928193509/http://www.thelambs.co.uk/news/signing-spree-629.htm |url-status=dead }} In his first season with Tamworth, the club recorded a disappointing 15th-place finish in the Conference North, with Sheridan making 12 appearances and failing to find the net.
Sheridan signed a new one-year contract to remain at Tamworth for the 2008–09 season. Sheridan made 11 appearances and scored his first goal for the club in a home fixture against Southport, as Tamworth finished the season as league champions.
Following promotion to the Conference National, Sherdian was one of five players who agreed a new deal with The Lambs.{{cite news |title=Tamworth confirm squad additions |url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/t/tamworth/8083518.stm |work=BBC Sport |date=4 June 2009 |accessdate=4 June 2009}} He proved to be important member of the squad, and this showed as Sheridan made 23 appearances and had a very good season in front of goal, scoring five goals including a memorable winner in the 2–1 win at home to Wrexham on 25 August 2009.{{cite news |title=Tamworth 2–1 Wrexham |url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_conf/8210293.stm |work=BBC Sport |date=25 August 2009 |accessdate=25 August 2009}}
After a successful season, Sheridan expressed interest in returning for 2010–11 season.{{cite news |url=http://www.bluesqfootball.com/story/0,20970,13040_6189393,00.html |title=Sheridan eager for new term |date=3 June 2010 |publisher=Blue Square Bet Premier |accessdate=3 June 2010 |archive-date=8 July 2011 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110708074605/http://www.bluesqfootball.com/story/0,20970,13040_6189393,00.html |url-status=dead }} He was granted his wish and was handed a further one-year extension. Sheridan again found himself a regular in the team, and went on to make 35 league appearances, and despite scoring only one goal all season, scored what proved to be the winner on the final day of the 2010–11 in a home fixture against Forest Green Rovers.{{cite news |title=Tamworth 2–1 Forest Green |url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_conf/9465795.stm |work=BBC Sport |date=30 April 2011 |accessdate=30 April 2011}}
On 16 June 2011, Sheridan's hopes of another year with Tamworth were dashed, as new manager Marcus Law told him he was not part of his long-term plans for the club, bringing an end to his four-year stay with the club. Sheridan left the club along with Aaron Farrell, a few weeks prior to his contract expiring, in a bid to start looking for a new club for the 2011–12 season.{{cite news |url=http://www.thisistamworth.co.uk/Jake-departs-memorable-years-Tamworth/story-12789503-detail/story.html |title=Jake departs after four memorable years at Tamworth |date=16 June 2011 |newspaper=Tamworth Herald |accessdate=16 June 2011 |archive-date=10 August 2011 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110810074213/http://www.thisistamworth.co.uk/Jake-departs-memorable-years-Tamworth/story-12789503-detail/story.html |url-status=dead }}
=Eastwood Town=
On 21 July 2011, Sheridan appeared in a pre-season friendly for Conference North side Eastwood Town in their 1–0 defeat against Wrexham.{{cite news |url=http://www.eastwoodadvertiser.co.uk/sport/football/eastwood-town/eastwood_perform_well_but_wrexham_win_friendly_1_3600902 |title=Eastwood perform well but Wrexham win friendly |date=21 July 2011 |newspaper=Eastwood Advertiser |accessdate=21 July 2011 |archive-date=12 September 2011 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110912061444/http://www.eastwoodadvertiser.co.uk/sport/football/eastwood-town/eastwood_perform_well_but_wrexham_win_friendly_1_3600902 |url-status=dead }}

=Later career=
After a successful campaign with the imps, Sheridan joined Alfreton Town on a one-year contract, following no new contract offer from Lincoln.
In 2015, Sheridan signed for Basford United. On 27 October 2016 he suffered a badly broken leg in a tie against Stamford.{{Cite web|url=https://www.stamfordmercury.co.uk/news/footballer-with-badly-broken-leg-had-to-wait-an-hour-for-ambulance-during-match-against-stamford-afc-1-7628313/|title=Footballer with badly broken leg had to wait an hour for ambulance during match against Stamford AFC|date=14 October 2016}}
