Background
R. J. Rao, a non-resident Indian, and a group of individuals funded the {{INRConvert|220|m}} in a public-private partnership model with the local tourism department. Although the land was allotted by the local government headed by N. Chandrababu Naidu in 2000, the work was stalled because of land encroachment and ownership issues.{{cite news|title=HUDA chief inspects Jalvihar site|url=http://www.hinduonnet.com/2006/04/07/stories/2006040721390300.htm|access-date=9 October 2010|newspaper=The Hindu|date=6 April 2006|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20100822054009/http://www.hinduonnet.com/2006/04/07/stories/2006040721390300.htm|archive-date=22 August 2010|url-status=usurped}} Further to this, a probe was initiated by the local government on the method of allocation of projects.{{cite news|title=Imax row: More to it than meets the eye|url=http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1621579.cms|access-date=9 October 2010|newspaper=The Times of India|date=6 June 2006}} India's apex court gave the go ahead to the project in mid-2006 on the basis of sanction of the local pollution control board and the regional high court.{{cite news|title=Court's nod for Jalavihar project|url=http://www.hindu.com/2006/07/20/stories/2006072019890300.htm|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20070716232720/http://www.hindu.com/2006/07/20/stories/2006072019890300.htm|url-status=dead|archive-date=16 July 2007|access-date=9 October 2010|newspaper=The Hindu|date=20 July 2006}}
Because of the profitability of public-private partnership model such as this one, the local government proposed to continue the trend in 2010.{{cite news|title=AP Tourism to rope in more private parties|url=http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/2010/05/27/stories/2010052751682100.htm|access-date=9 October 2010|newspaper=The Hindu Business Line|date=27 May 2010}}
Facilities
The {{convert|18000|sqft|adj=on}} wave pool, the largest in the country, can accommodate about 1,000 people at a time. The constructed area comprised only 10% of the total area of the park. Proper fencing was provided along the park to prevent littering around the Hussain Sagar lake. The park consists of two main zones – entertainment and party. The entertainment zone has water sports, wave pool, dry rides, mini train and food courts. The party zone contains open lawns that can accommodate about 2,000 people.
