He was educated at Carmarthen Grammar School‘BUCKLEY, Ven. James Rice’, Who Was Who, A & C Black, an imprint of Bloomsbury Publishing plc, 1920–2007; online edn, Oxford University Press, Dec 2007 [http://www.ukwhoswho.com/view/article/oupww/whowaswho/U194118, accessed 10 Feb 2014] and St David's College, Lampeter; and ordained in 1872. After a curacy in Neath he was Vicar of Llandaff from 1878 to "The Clergy List, Clerical Guide and Ecclesiastical Directory" London, John Phillips, 1900 1913.
