James Osborne (politician)

James Osborne (24 September 1845 – 11 April 1877) was an Australian politician.

He was born at Marshall Mount near Wollongong to Henry Osborne and Sarah Marshall.{{cite AuDB |id2=osborne-henry-2527 |title=Osborne, Henry (1803–1859) |first=PJP |last=Osbourne |accessdate=12 April 2019}} He advocated for pastoralism on the Murrumbidgee River before entering politics. In 1869 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for Illawarra,{{Cite NSW Parliament |id=863 |name=Mr James Osborne (1845 - 1877) |former=Yes |access-date=12 April 2019}} a seat his brother Patrick had already represented from 1864 to 1866.{{Cite NSW Parliament |id=652 |name=Mr Patrick Hill Osborne (1832 - 1902) |former=Yes |access-date=12 April 2019}} Their father had been a member of New South Wales Legislative Council (1851–1856) and Legislative Assembly (1856–57).{{Cite NSW Parliament |id=334 |name=Mr Henry Osborne (1808 - 1859) |former=Yes |access-date=12 April 2019}}

James Osborne retired in 1872, and died in Sydney in 1877.
