Education

Kozinski graduated in 1986 from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, Poland, with a PhD in Heat Engineering & Environmental Protection. He then attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and spent the majority of his academic career at McGill University, where he was a Sir William Dawson Scholar and Associate Vice-Principal of Research and International Relations.{{Citation needed|date=October 2024}}{{Cite web |title=Lakehead Engineering |url=https://lakehead.engineering/leadership/}}

Academia

Kozinski served as Founding President and Vice-Chancellor of the New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE) in Hereford from 2017 to 2018. NMITE aimed to be an ‘incubator of new ideas’, focused on graduating employment-ready, industry relevant, culturally intelligent, creative, ethically aware and financially literate young people.{{Cite web|url=https://www.realwire.com/writeitfiles/Project_Summary.pdf|title=In Hereford: a new engineering university for the UK addressing the 44,000 annual shortfall of graduate engineers|date=2017-05-15}} NMITE welcomed its first students in September 2021.{{Cite web |title=Becoming NMITE |url=https://nmite.ac.uk/becoming-nmite |access-date=2025-03-28 |website=NMITE |language=en}}

Prior to his position at Hereford, Kozinski served as Founding Dean of the Lassonde School of Engineering at York University. The $250 million initiative houses the Renaissance Engineering program.{{Cite news |date=November 2011 |title=Mining entrepreneur's university donation digging for 'renaissance engineers' |url=https://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/giving/mining-entrepreneurs-university-donation-digging-for-renaissance-engineers/article554908/ |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160304094118/https://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/giving/mining-entrepreneurs-university-donation-digging-for-renaissance-engineers/article554908/ |archive-date=2016-03-04 |access-date=2016-02-04 |website=The Globe and Mail}} Renaissance engineering{{Cite web|url=http://www.peo.on.ca/index.php/ci_id/25678/la_id/1.htm|title=Engineering Dimensions|date=2013-03-01|publisher=Ontario Centre for Engineering and Public Policy}} is a curricular philosophy that includes interdisciplinary learning, industry collaboration and designing for positive social impact.
