Plot
Players assume the role of one of two characters: the sea captain Faust or smuggler Jazz. They go on a quest to find lost treasure in the Ancient East.{{cite web|url=http://au.ign.com/games/jazz-and-faust/pc-17373|title=Jazz and Faust|author=IGN|date=26 June 2002|work=IGN}}
Gameplay
Gameplay is similar to Myst, in which still images represent the gaming world, which the player navigates through by clicking with a context-sensitive cursor icon. Unlike that game, the player controls a character from a third-person perspective.{{cite web|url=http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/jazz-and-faust/1900-2871381/|title=Jazz and Faust|author=Scott Osborne|work=GameSpot|access-date=2015-11-02|archive-date=2015-11-10|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20151110210555/http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/jazz-and-faust/1900-2871381/|url-status=live}}
Critical reception
IGN gave the game a "Painful" rating of 2.2, describing it as "ugly, boring, terribly written, and acted out even worse".{{cite web|url=http://au.ign.com/articles/2002/06/26/jazz-and-faust|title=Jazz and Faust|author=Ivan Sulic|date=26 June 2002|work=IGN|access-date=2 November 2015|archive-date=20 November 2014|archive-url=https://archive.today/20141120145953/http://au.ign.com/articles/2002/06/26/jazz-and-faust|url-status=live}} GameSpot said the game had "dull, clumsy gameplay and bad writing". Adventure Gamers described it as "mediocre at best".{{cite web|url=http://www.adventuregamers.com/articles/view/17546|title=Jazz and Faust review - AdventureGamers.com|work=adventuregamers.com|date=8 September 2002|access-date=2 November 2015|archive-date=27 April 2015|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150427175055/http://www.adventuregamers.com/articles/view/17546|url-status=live}} GameZone liked the unique use of duel perspective: "The way the story is handled from each characters perspective is a new and probably influential addition to the adventure genre".{{cite web|url=http://pc.gamezone.com/gzreviews/r19582.htm|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20070406225753/http://pc.gamezone.com/gzreviews/r19582.htm|title=Jazz and Faust|archivedate=6 April 2007|work=gamezone.com}}
