Jean-Pierre Verheggen

Born in Gembloux on 6 June 1942, Verheggen began contributing to {{ill|TXT (magazine)|fr|TXT (revue)|lt=TXT}} in the 1970s alongside {{ill|Christian Prigent|fr}}.{{cite book |last=Prigent|first=Christian|date=2015|title=La Langue et ses monstres|trans-title= |url= |language=French|location=Paris|publisher=P.O.L.|page=106|isbn=}} He was also a French teacher at the Athénée Royal de Gembloux for the first three years of secondary education. In 1990, he was an advisor to Minister of Culture Bernard Anselme.

Verheggen's works centered around oral poetry and humor, with images of cruelty, voluptuousness, politics, social issues, and linguistics.{{cite book |last= |first= |date=1978|title=Le Degré Zorro de l'écriture|trans-title= |url= |language=French|location= |publisher=Éditions Christian Bourgois|page=73|isbn=}} The Alphabet des lettres françaises de Belgique commented on his poetry, saying "His poetry is above all a parody of poetry, a radical critique of the ideology that this genre conveys and a burlesque pastiche of its conventions. In 1995, he was awarded the {{ill|Grands Prix de l'humour noir#Grand prix de l'humour noir Xavier-Forneret|fr|lt=Grand prix de l'humour noir Xavier-Forneret}} for Ridiculum vitae.

In 2005, he published Portraits crachés, a collection of portraits of fictional and nonfictional Belgian characters, such as Salvatore Adamo and Tintin, in collaboration with Pierre Kroll, {{ill|Frédéric du Bus|fr}}, {{ill|Kanar|fr}}, {{ill|Johan De Moor|fr}}, {{ill|Nix (comics)|fr|Nix (auteur)|lt=Nix}}, {{ill|Frédéric Jannin|fr}}, {{ill|Xavier Löwenthal|fr}}, {{ill|André Stas|fr}}, and {{ill|Juan d'Oultremont|fr}}.
