He is member of the French Communist Party and served as Mayor of Tulle{{cite web|url=https://www.ina.fr/video/LMC8902021883|language=fr|title=Accord PC /PS pour les élections municipales à Tulle|accessdate=4 June 2020|publisher=ina.fr}} from 25 March 1977 to 25 June 1995.{{cite web|url=http://www.francegenweb.org/mairesgenweb/resultcommune.php?id=843|language=fr|title=Les maires de Tulle|accessdate=4 June 2020|publisher=francegenweb.org}} He was a candidate for his own succession during the municipal elections of 1995 in Tulle. He was re-elected mayor of Tulle in 1983 during the municipal elections of 1989. Biography
Jean Combasteil was born in Rosiers-d'Égletons, France in 1936.
