Jeanette Livier Jurado (born November 14, 1965, East Los Angeles, California) is a member and lead vocalist of the popular American girl group, Exposé,{{cite web|url={{AllMusic|class=artist|id=p4214/biography|pure_url=yes}}|title=Biography: Exposé|last=Henderson|first=Alex|publisher=AMG|accessdate=May 17, 2010}}{{cite book|last=Romanowski|first=Patricia|title=The Rolling stone encyclopedia of rock & roll|year=2001|edition=3rd|publisher=13: 978-0743201209|author2=Holly George-Warren |author3=John Pareles|page=317}} along with Ann Curless, Gioia Bruno and, in the group's later years, Kelly Moneymaker.
She provided lead vocals on many of the group's songs, including its three biggest hits, "Come Go with Me", "Point of No Return" and "Seasons Change".{{Cite web |last=Kaplowitz |first=Steve|date=2013-07-19 |title=No Joke: Chad Excited About Attending Expose Concert Saturday Night |url=https://krod.com/no-joke-chad-excited-about-attending-expose-concert-saturday-night/ |access-date=2024-04-04 |website=600 ESPN El Paso |language=en}} She has also performed in at least one film, My Family (Mi Familia). In addition, Jurado has performed in Las Vegas as a part of several bands and in the show MadHattan.
Musical career
Jurado was active in Exposé from 1986 to 1996, when the group disbanded. Exposé was among the biggest stars of the late-1980s Latin freestyle boom.{{Cite web|url=https://www.stereogum.com/2144142/the-number-ones-exposes-seasons-change/columns/the-number-ones/|title = The Number Ones: Exposé's Seasons Change|last=Breihan|first=Tom| date=16 April 2021 |publisher=Stereogum|accessdate=August 14, 2021}}{{Cite web |last=Hensley |first=Catherine L. |date=2021-12-02 |title=What The Women Of Exposé Look Like Today |url=https://www.nickiswift.com/676038/what-the-women-of-expose-look-like-today/ |access-date=2024-04-04 |website=Nicki Swift |language=en-US}} She sang lead on the group's biggest hits, including their #1 hit ballad "Seasons Change". The trio was the first group in music history to have four top-ten hits from their debut album, Exposure.{{Cite journal|url=https://scholarworks.lib.csusb.edu/hispanicnews/309|title = Hispanic News (July 11th 1990)| journal=Inland Empire Hispanic News | date=11 July 1990 | volume=3 | issue=13 |publisher=Hispanic News|accessdate=August 15, 2021}}
When a new version of the group Exposé was created in 1986 out of the band X-Posed, Jurado was brought in by Lewis A. Martinée as the new lead singer. At the time, she was singing for an R&B cover act that opened for the original version of Exposé.
After the group quickly began racking up hits early on and began touring, Jurado experienced homesickness and lethargy while touring Europe.{{Cite web|url=http://www.dailyboom.net/2017/06/exclusive-interview-jeanette-jurado-of.html|title = Exclusive Interview Jeannette Jurado, June 2017|last=Meighan|first=Cate|publisher=Daily Boom|accessdate=August 14, 2021}}
Jurado has been compared with fellow Latin freestyle group vocalist Lisa Velez of Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam. Jurado's voice is commanding while projecting an "almost-untrained innocence" described as giving an "appealingly raw and sentimental R&B delivery" to "Seasons Change" that helped to make it a radio hit.

Jurado was born in East Los Angeles, California before her family moved to Pico Rivera, California when she was a young child.{{Cite web|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqdsW7vfOVw |archive-url=https://ghostarchive.org/varchive/youtube/20211221/NqdsW7vfOVw |archive-date=2021-12-21 |url-status=live|title = Interview with Jeannette Jurado, NMMA, 2020|date=14 August 2020 |publisher=National Museum of Mexican Art}}{{cbignore}} She is of Mexican American descent and describes growing up in a vibrant, largely Latino neighborhood and community.{{Cite web|url=http://www.expose-epistle.org/interview-jeanette-200904.htm|title = The Exposé Epistle On-Line: Jeanette Jurado 2009 Interview}} She is the middle child of three sisters.
