Partisan Peak ({{langx|sl|Partizanski vrh}}), originally known as Mount Kotlič,{{cite book |title=Radmannsdorf |date=1914 |publisher=Vienna: K. u. k. Militärgeographisches Institut |location=Vienna |type=1:75,000 map}} located on the southern part of the plateau, is its highest peak and reaches an elevation of {{convert|1411|m}}. The northern part of the plateau has elevations up to {{convert|1100|m}}.

Iron ore was once mined in Jelovica. During World War II, Jelovica served as a refuge for the Slovene Partisans. Today, it is a protected area within the Natura 2000 network.
