Critical reception

Hong Kong Economic Times commented: "In terms of new songs, "Hauteur" and "Run Run" are both electronic dance tracks, which are Jolin's signature style. However, they are not particularly outstanding and seem to be leftover tracks from previous work. On the other hand, the slower ballad "Habitual Betrayal" incorporates minor key elements and is quite effective. Among the several older tracks included, "Dancing Diva" and "Agent J" are considered representative dance songs, which helped establish Jolin's position as a pop diva. In fact, she has numerous high-quality ballads, including hits like "Pretence", and this album also features her covers of Sandy Lam's "Heard That Love's Ever Been Back" and Faye Wong's "Missing", showcasing Jolin's vocal versatility."{{Cite web|url=https://paper.hket.com/article/984925|title=區家歷 程日 - 蔡依林《J世紀大牌新曲+精選》 - 香港經濟日報 - 報章 - 副刊|website=paper.hket.com|access-date=2019-06-30}}

Tencent Entertainment's critic Shu Wa reviewed: "This compilation album, released by Gold Typhoon for Jolin Tsai, is likely her only greatest hits album from her time with EMI. If not for the inclusion of three previously unreleased tracks, this compilation would probably not have come to fruition, as the rights to her songs had already been transferred away from the record company by that time. The three special new songs are a highlight of the album. While they don't bring any fresh stylistic innovations, they can be seen as remnants from her Gold Typhoon era. Nonetheless, they hold significant collectible value for her fans. The release, timed just before Jolin's new album Butterfly under Warner, mirrors the strategies employed by previous labels like Universal and Sony, and did not garner much enthusiasm from the audience. However, given Jolin Tsai's immense popularity, any release at this time would still find strong support from her dedicated fan base."{{Cite web|url=https://ent.qq.com/zt/2009/jolin09/emimusic.htm|title=蔡依林2009年新专辑《花蝴蝶》策划之③_腾讯音乐_腾讯网|website=ent.qq.com|access-date=2019-06-30}}
