James E. Ray (January 12, 1934 – July 20, 1987) was an American professional basketball player.{{cite web|url=https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/rayji01.html|title=Jim Ray NBA stats|website=Basketball Reference|publisher=Sports Reference, LCC|accessdate=13 November 2023}} Ray was selected in the 1956 NBA draft by the Syracuse Nationals after a collegiate career at Toledo. Ray died on July 20, 1987, at the age of 53.
