Crispin was born at Underwood-Memorial Hospital in Woodbury, New Jersey, on July 18, 1979.{{cite news|url = https://www.newspapers.com/image/1105064364/|title = Births; Underwood-Memorial|date = August 7, 1979|newspaper = Gloucester County Times|page = 9|via = Newspapers.com|url-access = subscription|accessdate = December 6, 2024}} He starred as a {{convert|6|ft|0|in|adj=on}}, {{convert|185|lb|adj=on}} point guard for Pitman High School, leading the Panthers to the New Jersey Group I state championship in 1997 while setting the Gloucester County's all-time scoring record for boys' high school basketball (2,651 career points). Crispin was one of the most prolific scorers and efficient point guards in NJSIAA History. He averaged 35.6 Pts/G his Senior and Junior campaigns and overall 24.9Pts/G over his four years. In 117 Career games including the playoffs, he only had one game that he failed to hit double digits in scoring.

As a collegiate player, Crispin played college basketball at Pennsylvania State University alongside his brother, Jon.[http://www.bigbluehistory.net/bb/statistics/Games/20001125PennState.html Penn State at Kentucky – November 25, 2000], by Stephen John; Kentucky Sports Report Crispin was part of the 2001 Penn State team that upset the national powerhouse North Carolina Tar Heels in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament to advance to the Sweet Sixteen.

Crispin only played in the NBA during the 2001-02 NBA season and split time with the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns.
