Edwin Joseph Fountain (21 September 1871 – 1946) was an English professional footballer born in Aston, which is now part of Birmingham, who played in the Football League for Small Heath.{{cite book |last=Joyce |first=Michael |title=Football League Players' Records 1888 to 1939 |publisher=SoccerData (Tony Brown) |location=Nottingham |year=2004 |page=93 |isbn=978-1-899468-67-6}} Fountain, a left-sided forward, struggled to compete with Fred Wheldon and Toddy Hands.{{cite book |last=Matthews |first=Tony |title=Birmingham City: A Complete Record |year=1995 |publisher=Breedon Books |location=Derby |page=87 |isbn=978-1-85983-010-9}} He made his debut in the First Division on 9 February 1895 in a 1–1 draw at home to Sunderland, and played once more during that season and once towards the end of the next,Matthews, pp. 142–43. before returning to local football in the Midlands area.
