John George O'Brien (10 January 1866 – 15 August 1920) was an Irish first-class cricketer.

O'Brien was born at Dublin in January 1866, the son of Timothy O'Brien and Mary O'Dwyer.{{cite web|url=http://www.thepeerage.com/p31183.htm#i311829 |title=Profile: John O'Brien |publisher=www.thepeerage.com |accessdate=21 October 2018}} He was educated at the Catholic Downside School in England.{{cite web |url=https://www.cricketeurope.com/IRELAND/PLAYERS/276/index.shtml |title=Player profile: John O'Brien |publisher=CricketEurope |accessdate=21 October 2018 |archive-date=21 October 2018 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20181021190831/https://www.cricketeurope.com/IRELAND/PLAYERS/276/index.shtml |url-status=dead }} He served in the British Army with the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers, Royal Field Artillery, and the King's Shropshire Light Infantry, reaching the rank of captain.
