John Noel Pelly {{postnominal|CBE}} (15 June 1888 – 6 June 1945) was an English first-class cricketer and Royal Navy officer.

The son of Edmund Nevill Richard Pelly and Emma Mary Fowler, he was born in June 1888 at Ware, Hertfordshire.{{cite web|url=http://www.thepeerage.com/p40106.htm#i401060 |title=Captain John Noel Pelly |publisher=www.thepeerage.com |accessdate=2019-12-18}} He graduated from the Britannia Royal Naval College and in May 1908 he was a sub-lieutenant.{{London Gazette|issue=28213|date=8 January 1909|page=232}} He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in December 1910.{{London Gazette|issue=28452|date=2 January 1911|page=5|supp=y}} He served in the First World War and shortly after the conclusion of the war he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant commander in December 1918.{{London Gazette|issue=31123|date=14 January 1919|page=716}} His next promotion, to commander, came in June 1925.{{London Gazette|issue=33063|date=3 July 1925|page=4452}} The following year he made a single appearance in first-class cricket for the Royal Navy against the British Army cricket team at Lord's.{{cite web|url=https://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Players/31/31995/First-Class_Matches.html |title=First-Class Matches played by John Pelly |publisher=CricketArchive |accessdate=2019-12-18}} Batting twice in the match, Pelly was dismissed in the navy first-innings without scoring by Kenneth Mackessack, while in their second-innings he was dismissed for 5 runs by Robert Melsome.{{cite web|url=https://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Scorecards/11/11990.html |title=Army v Royal Navy, 1926 |publisher=CricketArchive |accessdate=2019-12-18}}

Pelly was placed on the retired list at his own request in June 1934, at which point he was granted the rank of captain.{{London Gazette|issue=34065|date=29 June 1934|page=4140|supp=y}} He came out of retirement during the Second World War and was placed in command of the {{HMS|King Alfred|1939 shore establishment|6}} shore establishment at Hove in 1939.{{cite book |title=Shipbuilding and Shipping Record |year=1945 |pages=575 |edition=65th |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=Crw-AQAAIAAJ |language=en}} He was made a CBE in the 1942 Birthday Honours.{{London Gazette|issue=35586|date=5 June 1942|page=2481}} He continued to command HMS King Alfred throughout the war, before collapsing suddenly and dying at the establishment on 6 June 1945.
