John Andrew "Baby Grand" Scafide (June 21, 1911 – October 24, 1979) was an American football guard tackle who played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) for the Boston Redskins.{{cite web|url=https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/ScafJo20.htm|title=John Scafide|website=Pro-Football-Reference.com}} He played college football at Tulane University. Early life

Scafide was born on June 21, 1911, in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. He was one of 13 children born to Italian immigrants.{{cite web|url=http://ststan.com/student-life/athletics/athletic-tradition/legends-born-1929-1958/|title=Legends Are Born (1929-1958)|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20181117022324/http://ststan.com/student-life/athletics/athletic-tradition/legends-born-1929-1958/|archive-date=2018-11-17}} He attended high school at Saint Stanislaus College in Bay St. Louis, playing for the "Rock-a-Chaws."

Mayor

Scafide served as mayor of Bay St. Louis from Bay from 1953 to 1969.
