History

Jonestown was laid out in about 1862 by Philip Jones, who gave the town his name.{{cite book|title=History of Parke and Vermillion Counties, Indiana|url=https://archive.org/stream/historyofparkeve00bfbo#page/412/mode/2up|date=1913|publisher=B.F. Geography

Jonestown is located less than a mile east of the larger town of Saint Bernice.
