José León Sánchez Alvarado (19 April 1929 – 15 November 2022)[https://www.elpais.cr/2022/11/15/el-escritor-costarricense-jose-leon-sanchez-fallecio/ Falleció el escritor costarricense José León Sánchez] {{in lang|es}} was a Costa Rican novelist best known for his works Isla de los hombres solos ("Island of Lonely Men"){{cite book|last=Firestone|first=Matthew D|title=Discover Costa Rica|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=XDD7SOREQOgC&pg=PA311|accessdate=3 May 2011|date=1 December 2010|publisher=Lonely Planet|isbn=978-1-74220-109-2|pages=311–}} and Tenochtitlan. A movie adaptation of his novel, Isla de los hombres solos was made and released by a Mexican producer.
