Personality
Arieh has the reputation as something of a divisive figure, often relying on verbal bullying when trying to force a hand. He has earned the friendship and respect of many of his competitors, but has also committed several faux pas during his career, lambasting Harry Demetriou after an important hand in the Main Event of the 2004 World Series of Poker and, after being eliminated from that tournament, pulling one of the remaining players (David Williams) aside and whispering a censored remark referring to the other remaining opponent, eventual champion Greg Raymer. He subsequently apologized after both incidents.{{Cite web |last=Rosenbloom |first=Steve |date=June 21, 2005 |title=Rosenbloom: Josh Arieh reflects on last year's outburst |url=https://www.espn.com/espn/poker/columns/story?columnist=rosenbloom_steve&id=2091577 |access-date=April 21, 2024 |website=ESPN.com |language=en}}{{Cite web |date=September 16, 2004 |title=Boorish Behavior in Poker |url=https://scienceblogs.com/dispatches/2004/09/16/boorish-behavior-in-poker |access-date=April 21, 2024 |website=ScienceBlogs |language=en}}
