Biography

Sykes was raised in Los Angeles, where he sang soprano as a boy. He is African American. He has performed with Christopher Parkening and other artists,Epstein, Benjamin, [https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1996-12-13-ca-12354-story.html "Singer's Not Jubilant in Name Alone"], Los Angeles Times, 13 December 1996 and has appeared in such venues as the Metropolitan Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Carnegie Hall,Tommasini, Anthony, [https://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/27/arts/music/27mass.html Music Review: The Bernstein Mass Project], New York Times 26 October 2008 the Kennedy Center, London's Barbican Centre, the Apollo Theater, Hollywood Bowl, New Orleans Jazz Festival and hundreds of other major venues around the world.
