Biography

Bluck was born in London and originally focused on photography, painting and engraving but eventually came to concentrate on large sculptural commissions, often working with pressed bricks.{{cite book|author=Terry Wyke with Harry Cocks|publisher=Liverpool University Press / Manchester Metropolitan University|year=2004|title=Public Sculpture of Britain Volume 8: Public Sculpture of Greater Manchester |isbn=0-85323-567-8}}{{cite book|author=Alan Windsor|publisher=Ashgate|year=2003|title=British Sculptors of the Twentieth Century |isbn=1-85928-4566}}{{cite book|author=Douglas Merritt|publisher=Redcliffe Press Ltd|year=2002|title= Sculpture in Bristol |isbn=1900178834}} Bluck was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors in 1978, was a member of the Society of Portrait Sculptors and of the Art Workers Guild. Her 24 metre long brick relief, The Legend of the Iron Gates for the Sainsbury's supermarket in Wilmslow was awarded the Otto Beit Medal by the Royal Society of British Sculptors in 1989.{{cite book|author=David Buckman|publisher=Art Dictionaries Ltd|year=2006|title=Artists in Britain Since 1945 Vol 1, A to L |isbn=0-953260-95-X}} Bluck won both bronze and silver medals from the Societe des Artistes Francais in Paris. As well as Britain and France, Bluck's work has also been exhibited in the United States and in New Zealand.
