Career
English studied medicine at the University of Cambridge, graduating with MB and BChir degrees.{{Cite web|url=https://www.reporter.admin.cam.ac.uk/reporter/2007-08/special/03/10.html|title=Cambridge University Reporter Special|website=www.reporter.admin.cam.ac.uk}} She later qualified to join the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych). Recognition
English was elected as an Honorary Fellow of Girton College, Cambridge in 2004.
Family
English is married to the cardiac surgeon Sir Terence English.
