Biography
June Stephenson had a network of women artists in Melbourne with whom she was close friends, including Meg Benwell, Anne Graham, Judith Perrey and Margaret Dredge.{{Cite web|last=|first=|date=|title=Not the usual Book Club Story: the Margaret Dredge retrospective & the workings of Australia art historiography|url=https://login.remote.slc.edu/login?qurl=https%3a%2f%2fwww.proquest.com%2fdocview%2f1383036408%3faccountid%3d13701|archive-url=|archive-date=|access-date=2020-11-12|website=login.remote.slc.edu}} Stephenson was part of an exhibition in 1961 of five female artists including Sue McDougall, Grace Somerville, Margaret Dredge and Inez Green. At the George Bell School in Toorak that Stephenson met her close friend, traveling companion, and fellow artist: Anne Marie Graham.{{Cite web|title=Anne Marie Graham Presented by Colour In Your Life|url=https://www.colourinyourlife.com.au/tv-show-ep/anne-marie-graham/|access-date=2020-11-12|website=Colour in Your Life|language=en-US}} Stephenson and Graham went on sketching and painting expeditions in the Glass House Mountains during the winters of 1972 to 1979 when Stephenson lived at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast.{{Cite web|title=Anne Marie Graham|url=http://www.annemariegraham.com.au/bio.html|access-date=2020-11-12|website=www.annemariegraham.com.au}} They shared an exhibit at The Little Gallery, Davenport, Tasmania in 1970. They were also both featured in a 1968 exhibition, titled The Essentialists at the Pinacotheca Gallery in Melbourne.
