Jurodidae is a family of beetles that was originally described for the extinct genus Jurodes, known from the Middle-Late Jurassic of Asia. In 1996, a living species, Sikhotealinia zhiltzovae, was discovered in the Sikhote-Alin mountains in southeastern Siberia, and assigned to this family.{{Cite web |title=Family Jurodidae |url=https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/575127-Jurodidae |access-date=2024-12-19 |website=iNaturalist |language=en}} Their placement is uncertain, but are usually considered archostematans.{{Cite journal |last=Yan |first=Evgeny V. |last2=Wang |first2=Bo |last3=Ponomarenko |first3=Alexander G. |last4=Zhang |first4=Haichun |date=2014-01-01 |title=The most mysterious beetles: Jurassic Jurodidae (Insecta: Coleoptera) from China |url=https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1342937X13001202 |journal=Gondwana Research |volume=25 |issue=1 |pages=214–225 |doi=10.1016/j.gr.2013.04.002 |issn=1342-937X|url-access=subscription }} In one study, Sikhotealinia and Jurodes were considered a sister group to all other archostematan beetles.{{Cite journal|last1=Yan|first1=Evgeny V.|last2=Wang|first2=Bo|last3=Ponomarenko|first3=Alexander G.|last4=Zhang|first4=Haichun|date=2014|title=The most mysterious beetles: Jurassic Jurodidae (Insecta: Coleoptera) from China|url=https://www.rosspiper.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Jurodidae_yan2014.pdf|journal=Gondwana Research|language=en|volume=25|issue=1|pages=214–225|doi=10.1016/j.gr.2013.04.002|bibcode=2014GondR..25..214Y }} However, other authors have considered their placement within beetles as a whole uncertain, due to their mix characteristics of typical Archostemata, as well as Polyphaga and Adephaga.{{Cite journal |last1=Li |first1=Yan-Da |last2=Liu |first2=Zhen-Hua |last3=Jarzembowski |first3=Edmund A. |last4=Yin |first4=Zi-Wei |last5=Huang |first5=Di-Ying |last6=Cai |first6=Chen-Yang |date=October 2019 |title=Early evolution of Cupedidae revealed by a mid-Cretaceous reticulated beetle from Myanmar (Coleoptera: Archostemata) |url=https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/syen.12355 |journal=Systematic Entomology |language=en |volume=44 |issue=4 |pages=777–786 |doi=10.1111/syen.12355 |bibcode=2019SysEn..44..777L |s2cid=202852115 |issn=0307-6970}}
