KFOG KaBoom was an annual outdoor concert held by KFOG in San Francisco and which occurred in May from 1994 to 2010. It was followed by a fireworks show{{Cite web | title =KFOG KaBoom! | publisher =Teevan Productions | url =http://teevanproductions.com/kfog.html | accessdate =August 31, 2011 }}[https://archive.org/search.php?query=KFOG%20kaboom%20AND%20collection%3Aopensource_movies Internet Archive: Open Source Movies] synchronized to a soundtrack broadcast by the station. The extravagant fireworks display drew over 350,000 people.[http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/culture/detail?blogid=3&entry_id=4239 350,000 people and KFOG KaBoom] In 2007, KaBoom began charging admission due to rising costs.[http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/nwzchik/detail?blogid=32&entry_id=16469 "this is the first year the station is charging" Suzanne Herel @ sfgate.com]

Through 1998, the event was known as the Sky Concert, but was renamed in 1999.{{Cite web|url=http://www.epa.gov/fedrgstr/EPA-IMPACT/1999/July/Day-21/i18486.htm|title=Govinfo}} Reportedly, this was due to the name being too generic {{Citation needed|date=May 2010}} and may conflict with Keilwerth S.K.Y. In 2010, the Port of San Francisco informed KFOG that Piers 30/32 in downtown San Francisco could no longer support the heavy equipment and vehicles necessary to produce large events.{{Cite web |url=http://www.kfog.com/Pages/KFOGKaBoom2010.aspx |title=KFOG KaBoom! |access-date=2011-05-11 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110927113939/http://www.kfog.com/Pages/KFOGKaBoom2010.aspx |archive-date=2011-09-27 |url-status=dead }} In May of that same year, KaBoom was moved from the pier location to the parking lot of Candlestick Park.

In the spring of 2011, KFOG announced that a proper venue for the show could not be found, and that KaBoom for 2011 was cancelled. No announcement has since been made for KaBoom since 2012.[http://www.kfog.com KFOG 104.5/97.7 FM: World Class Rock|accessdate=May 11, 2011] KFOG itself would sign off in September 2019, ending any chances of a reboot for the event.{{cite news|last=Barney|first=Chuck|url=https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/08/26/bay-area-radio-station-kfog-pronounced-dead/|title=Bay Area radio station KFOG pronounced dead|website=The Mercury News|date=26 August 2019|access-date=5 September 2019}}
