Kadakalaid lies just northeast of the island of Hiiumaa and belongs to the administrative municipality of Pühalepa Parish, Hiiu County ({{langx|et|Hiiu maakond}}). Other small islands close by include: Veskirahu, Männaklaid, Hõralaid, Vohilaid, Hellamaa, Uuemererahu, Uuemaarahu and Ramsi.
