The Kaivan ({{langx|fa|کیوان}}) is a class of large patrol craft operated by the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy. The ships in this class are modified versions of the American Cape-class vessels, built by the United States Coast Guard Yard in the 1950s.

Design

Sources cite displacement of Kaivan class vessels slightly different. According to Jane's Fighting Ships, the ships have a standard displacement of {{convert|100|t|LT|lk=out}} and {{convert|150|t|LT|abbr=on}} at full load. Conway's All the World's Fighting Ships puts the numbers at {{convert|98|t|LT|lk=out}} and {{convert|148|t|LT|lk=out}} for standard and full load displacements respectively. Combat Fleets of the World mentions only {{convert|85|t|LT|lk=out}}.{{citation|editor-last=Couhat|editor-first=Jean Labayle|year=1986|url=https://archive.org/details/CombatFleetsOfTheWorld198687|url-access=registration|title=Combat Fleets of the World 1986/87: Their Ships, Aircraft, and Armament|publisher=Naval Institute Press|location=Annapolis, Maryland|isbn=0-85368-860-5|page=255}} The class design is {{convert|28.9|m|abbr=on}} long, would have a beam of {{convert|6.2|m|abbr=on}} and a draft of {{convert|2|m|abbr=on}}. The length is also recorded {{convert|29|m|abbr=on}}.
