This family represents the Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) internal ribosome entry site (IRES) present in the vCyclin gene. The vCyclin and vFLIP coding sequences are present on a bicistronic transcript and it is thought the IRES may initiate translation of vFLIP from this bicistronic transcript.{{cite journal | vauthors = Bieleski L, Talbot SJ | title = Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus vCyclin open reading frame contains an internal ribosome entry site | journal = Journal of Virology | volume = 75 | issue = 4 | pages = 1864–1869 | date = February 2001 | pmid = 11160685 | pmc = 114096 | doi = 10.1128/JVI.75.4.1864-1869.2001 }}{{cite journal | vauthors = Bieleski L, Hindley C, Talbot SJ | title = A polypyrimidine tract facilitates the expression of Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus vFLIP through an internal ribosome entry site | journal = The Journal of General Virology | volume = 85 | issue = Pt 3 | pages = 615–620 | date = March 2004 | pmid = 14993645 | doi = 10.1099/vir.0.19733-0 | doi-access = free }}
