The Hakari River (left tributary of the Aras) separates it from the Karabakh Plateau. The highest point is Mount Kirs ({{langx|az|Böyük Kirs Dağı}}, {{langx|hy|Մեծ Քիրս լեռ}}, {{lit|Great Kirs}}) (2,725 m).[http://bse.sci-lib.com/article058869.html Карабахский хребет], Great Soviet Encyclopedia
