Raised in Ridgefield, Connecticut, Creighton attended Ridgefield High School.{{cite book |title=Caudatowan |chapter=Juniors |date=1983 |page=121 |publisher=Ridgefield High School}} She graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1988 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree{{cite book |url=http://archives.nd.edu/Commencement/1988-05-15_Commencement.pdf |title=1988 Commencement |date=May 13–15, 1988 |page=57 |publisher=The University of Notre Dame du Lac |access-date=July 2, 2021}} and was commissioned through the NROTC program. Creighton later earned an M.S. degree in information technology management from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1997.
