Rocket Internet in Pakistan

The German internet company Rocket Internet took an initial step into Pakistan's e-commerce sector with the establishment of Daraz.pk in July 2012.{{cite web|url=https://www.techinasia.com/rocket-internet-pakistan-fashion-estore-daraz-gets-1000-orders-per-day/|website=Tech in Asia|accessdate=15 June 2015|title=Rocket Internet Fashion E-Store daraz gets 1000 orders per day}} Following a positive reception in Pakistan with its first e-commerce venture, Rocket Internet expanded its operations in Pakistan to over 30 active websites in 2015, the widest known being Kaymu.pk, Foodpanda.pk and Daraz.pk.{{cite news|url=http://nation.com.pk/sunday-plus/28-Dec-2014/smart-moves-in-it-telecom-sector|title=Rocket Internet in Pakistan|work=The Nation|date=8 January 2015}} In a recent development, one of the ventures of Rocket internet in Pakistan has been acquired by Alibaba.{{cite web|url=https://dnd.com.pk/alibaba-has-successfully-acquired-daraz-in-pakistan/141990|title=Alibaba Acquired Daraz|work=dnd.com.pk|date=8 May 2018}}

Marketplace model

An apparent drawback Kaymu faces is the inability to gauge the quality of products listed by the sellers. Some of these products are illegally copied games and programs being listed as genuine copies.{{cite web|url=http://propakistani.pk/2014/10/01/pirated-software-games-make-kaymu-pk-rocket-internet/|website=propakistani.pk|accessdate=1 October 2014|title=Pirated Software and Games Make it to Kaymu.PK of Rocket Internet|date=October 2014 }}
