It was serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine from June 1991 to July 1997, with its chapters collected in 27 {{Transliteration|ja|tankōbon}} volumes.

By January 2023, the manga had over 33 million copies in circulation, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time.
