Ke Wu (born 9 December 1962) is a professor and researcher in electrical engineering. He currently works at the Ecole Polytechnique{{Cite news|last=Blackwell|first=Tom|date=October 16, 2020|title=How Montreal professor built a parallel career in China, highlighting debate over Beijing's recruiting|work=National Post|url=https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/a-montreal-professors-parallel-academic-career-highlights-debate-on-chinas-science-talent-recruiting|access-date=October 31, 2020}}[http://www.polymtl.ca/recherche/rc/en/professeurs/details.php?NoProf=110- Professor in Electrical Engineering] {{Webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160303183128/http://www.polymtl.ca/recherche/rc/en/professeurs/details.php?NoProf=110- |date=3 March 2016 }}. in Montreal, and is a Tier-I Canada Research Chair{{Cite web |url=http://www.polymtl.ca/recherche/rc/en/unites/details.php?NoUnite=120 |title=Canada Research Chair |access-date=8 August 2010 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160303171258/http://www.polymtl.ca/recherche/rc/en/unites/details.php?NoUnite=120 |archive-date=3 March 2016 |url-status=dead }} in radio-frequency (RF) and millimetre-wave engineering.
He is active in the following areas of research: microwave and millimeter wave (components, devices, receiver/transmitter); characterization and measurement of dielectric materials; fast electronics (fast logic circuits, interconnects); superconductors (circuits, applications); numerical modeling (CAD, electromagnetic fields); and optoelectronics (photonics components, broadband transmission).{{Cite web|title=Professors|url=https://www.grames.polymtl.ca/members/professors/|access-date=2021-03-22|website=Poly-Grames|language=en-CA|archive-date=4 April 2019|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190404152400/https://www.grames.polymtl.ca/members/professors/|url-status=live}}
Career
Wu is the director of the Poly-Grames Research Center, founding director of the Canadian university-industry consortium, Facility for Advanced Millimetre-wave Engineering and the Center for Radiofrequency Electronics Research of Quebec.{{clarify|reason=unclear phrasing|date=March 2021}} He was elected an IEEE Fellow in 2001.{{Cite web|title=IEEE Fellows|website=Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) |url=http://www.ieee.org/membership_services/membership/fellows/chronology/fellows_2001.html#W-|url-status=dead|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110629020559/http://www.ieee.org/membership_services/membership/fellows/chronology/fellows_2001.html#W-|archive-date=29 June 2011|access-date=8 August 2010}}
In 2020, the National Post published an article stating that Wu is also a researcher at several universities in China, with at least one position being full-time; the National Post also noted that he had in 2011 been a delegate to the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and an advisor to the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Chinese Communist Party's United Front Work Department. Wu subsequently objected to suggestions that he had a parallel academic career in China, calling them "absolute nonsense", and stated that his students would often add his name to other projects exaggerating his role in order to obtain funding. He also said that his role with the CPPCC had been as an "observer".{{Cite news|last=Blackwell|first=Tom|date=December 16, 2020|title=Reports that he has parallel career in China are 'absolute nonsense' says top Montreal engineering professor|work=National Post|url=https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/reports-that-he-has-parallel-career-in-china-are-absolute-nonsense-says-top-montreal-engineering-professor|access-date=April 25, 2021}}
