Major-General Sir Kenneth Gray Buchanan {{post-nominals|country=GBR|size=100%|sep=,|Kt|CB|CMG|DSO}} (25 January 1880 – 7 June 1973) was a British Army officer.

Military career

Buchanan was commissioned into the Seaforth Highlanders on 20 January 1900.{{London Gazette|issue=27155|page=362|date=19 January 1900}}

He was made a staff captain in April 1912.{{London Gazette|issue=28601|page=2893|date=23 April 1912}}

He saw action on the Western Front during the First World War and was again made a staff captain in April 1915,{{London Gazette|issue=29263|page=8106|date=13 August 1915|supp=y}} for which he was appointed a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order.{{London Gazette|issue=12894|page=89|date=17 January 1916|city=e}} He became commander of 154th Infantry Brigade in September 1917.{{cite web|url=https://www.gulabin.com/armynavy/pdf/Army%20Commands%201860-.pdf|title=Army Commands|accessdate=28 May 2020}} His service in the war also earned him an appointment as a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George.{{London Gazette|issue=13375|page=4|date=2 January 1919|city=e}}

Buchanan went on to become a general staff officer at Northern Command in 1928 and commander of 2nd Infantry Brigade in March 1930. After being appointed a Companion of the Order of the Bath in the 1934 New Year Honours,{{London Gazette|issue=15032|page=10|date=5 January 1934|city=e}} he became General Officer Commanding 42nd (East Lancashire) Infantry Division in March 1934 before retiring in March 1938.

He was appointed a Knight Bachelor in the 1946 New Year Honours for his work as Secretary of the Council of Voluntary War Work during the Second World War.{{London Gazette|issue=37407|page=2|date=28 December 1945}}
