History

In 1968 there was a $3,130,000 bond proposal.{{cite news|last=Plumb|first=Chris|title=KMHS Voters Face $3 Million Plan|newspaper=Waukesha Daily Freeman|place=Waukesha, Wisconsin|date=July 15, 1968|page=2}} – [https://www.newspapers.com/clip/106675424/ Clipping] from Newspapers.com.

Eight persons in the Kettle Moraine Estates subdivision had requested that the subdivision should become a part of this district in a petition they signed. Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA) No. 16's Agency School Committee ruled in 1968 that the subdivision should stay in its previous school district.{{cite news|title=No Detachment For KM Estates|newspaper=Waukesha Daily Freeman|place=Waukesha, Wisconsin|date=December 18, 1968|page=2}} – [https://www.newspapers.com/clip/106676088/ Clipping] from Newspapers.com.

In July 2022 the school board enacted a policy that prevented employees from having flags in their rooms indicating political movements and which prevented them from indicating what pronouns they prefer using in their e-mail signatures. The board clarified that LGBT pride flags are included in the ban. Students are still allowed to use both.{{cite web|last=Bohr|first=Nick|url=https://www.wisn.com/article/kettle-moraine-school-bans-pronouns-and-flags/40758741|title=Kettle Moraine school board bans pronouns and flags|publisher=WISN-TV|date=July 29, 2022|accessdate=2022-07-31}} The policy was criticized for targeting "attacks at specific viewpoints, like LGBT communities, or welcome and safe spaces to students of color", and over 13,000 people signed a petition to oppose the policy.{{Cite news |date=August 17, 2022 |title=Wisconsin School Board Votes in Favor of Pride Flag Ban |work=The Associated Press |url=https://www.usnews.com/news/us/articles/2022-08-17/wisconsin-school-board-votes-in-favor-of-pride-flag-ban |access-date=August 17, 2022}}
