Keymar is an unincorporated community in Carroll County, Maryland, United States.{{cite web|url=http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnispublic|title=Geographic Names Information System|date=2009-01-29|work= Keymar (Populated Place)|publisher=U.S. Geological Survey}} The name of the community is a portmanteau of the family name Key (of which Francis Scott Key was a member) and Mar for Maryland. In 1822, Francis Scott Key sold his father's mansion and estate on Pipe Creek near this community. Keymar was likely the name of that estate.{{cite book|last1=Kenny|first1=Hamill|title=The Placenames of Maryland : their origin and meaning|date=1984|publisher=Maryland Historical Society|location=Baltimore, Md.|isbn=0-938420-28-3|page=134}}
