History
In 1413 the castle belonged to Thomas Kennedy, Constable of Aberdeen, who dismantled it then to build the old Ellon Castle.
Structure
Only vague traces of a circular ditch enclosing an area {{convert|40|m}} wide remain.{{cite web|url=http://www.stravaiging.com/history/castle/castle-of-kinmuck/|work=Stravaiging|title=Kinmuck Castle|accessdate=2021-05-26}} The ditch was filled in 1867.
