Kite is a city in Johnson County, Georgia, United States, along the Little Ohoopee River. The population was 160 in 2020.

History

The town was named after Shaderick Kight, who donated the land to build the town.{{cite book|last1=Moyer|first1=Armond|last2=Moyer|first2=Winifred|title=The origins of unusual place-names|url=https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=wu.89058322223;view=1up;seq=76|year=1958|publisher=Keystone Pub. Geography

Kite is located in eastern Johnson County at {{coord|32|41|29|N|82|30|55|W|type:city}} (32.691472, -82.515378).{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=United States Census Bureau|accessdate=2011-04-23|date=2011-02-12|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}} U.S. Route 221 passes through the center of town as Montgomery Street, leading north {{convert|14|mi}} to Bartow and south {{convert|25|mi}} to Soperton. Georgia State Route 57 (Kight Road) crosses US 221 in the center of Kite, leading west {{convert|12|mi}} to Wrightsville, the Johnson county seat, and southeast {{convert|13|mi}} to Swainsboro.
