The Koningin Regentes class was a class of coastal defence ships{{efn|name=pantserschepen}} of the Royal Netherlands Navy. The class comprised Koningin Regentes, De Ruyter and Hertog Hendrik.Jane (1970), p. 313.
Design
The ships of the class were {{convert|96.62|m|ftin|0}} long, had a beam of {{convert|15.19|m|ftin|0}}, a draught of {{convert|5.82|m|ftin|0}}, and had a displacement of 5,002 ton. The ships were equipped with 2 shaft reciprocating engines, which were rated at {{convert|6500|ihp|abbr=on}} and produced a top speed of {{convert|16.5|kn|km/h}}. In addition, the machinery had two sets of triple expansions.
= Armor =
When it came to naval armour all three ships were equipped with Krupp armour. The ships had belt armour of {{convert|6|in|cm|abbr=on}}, {{convert|10|in|cm|abbr=on}} barbette armour and {{convert|10|in|cm|abbr=on}} turret armour. Deck armour of the Koningin Regentes class was {{convert|2|in|cm|abbr=on}}.Jane (1900), p. 157.
A small improvement over the preceding {{sclass|Evertsen|coastal defence ship|4}} was that the 15 cm guns were now also protected by decent shields, instead of having only 12 mm armor protection.{{sfn|Evers|1899}}
= Armament =
The artillery of the Koningin Regentes class was a big step forward in comparison with the smaller {{sclass|Evertsen|coastal defence ship|4}}.{{sfn|Evers|1899}} The main and secondary battery were now all L/40 long quick firing guns.{{sfn|Marineblad|1900|p=90}} Some applauded the minister for this choice of armament.{{sfn|Evers|1899}}
The main armament of the ships were two 24 cm SK L/40 guns in single turrets.{{sfn|Evers|1899}} In fact, the German Navy used the same gun as main armament on their newest battleships of the {{sclass|Kaiser Friedrich III|battleship|4}}. The quick fire capability of this gun meant that it fired about three rounds a minute. This made the difference with the 21 cm guns of the Evertsens even bigger.
Secondary armament included four single 15 cm SK L/40 naval gun guns This was also an improvement over the two 15 cm quick-firing guns of the Evertsens, which were also shorter. There were eight {{convert|7.5|cm|in|abbr=on}} No. 3 single guns.The ships had three {{convert|45|cm|in|abbr=on}} torpedo tubes of which two were submerged and one was above water at the bow.
