It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Kroczyce.{{TERYT}} It lies approximately {{convert|13|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} north-east of Zawiercie and {{convert|54|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} north-east of the regional capital Katowice.
