History

Imazu Station opened on 12 April 1905 along with the rest of the Hanshin Main Line.{{Cite book|last=|first=|title=兵庫の鉄道全駅 私鉄・公営鉄道|date=2012-12-10|publisher=神戸新聞総合出版センター|isbn=9784343006745|location=Kobe, Japan|publication-place=Kobe Shimbun General Publishing Center|page=48|language=ja|trans-title=Hyogo Railway All Stations Private Railways / Public Railways}} It would be renamed to its current name, Kusugawa Station, on 19 December 1929.

The station was the site of a derailment on 13 December 1949 when a runaway train from the Hankyu Line collided with the platform. At that time, Hankyu trains were slightly wider than the Hanshin trains. There was also a spur connecting to the Hankyū Imazu Line west of this location.

On 17 January 1995, all services were suspended due to the Great Hanshin earthquake.{{Cite book|last=|first=|title=不死鳥レールウェイ|date=2010-01-17|publisher=神戸新聞総合出版センター|isbn=978-4-343-00537-3|location=|page=126|language=ja}} Service on the line was fully restored by 26 June 1995.

Station numbering was introduced on 21 December 2013, with Nishinomiya being designated as station number HS-15.{{Cite web |date=30 April 2014 |title=阪神「三宮」を「神戸三宮」に駅名変更のうえ、駅ナンバリングを導入し、全てのお客さまに分かりやすい駅を目指します |trans-title=After changing the station name from Hanshin "Sannomiya" to "Kobe Sannomiya", Introduced station numbering, Aiming for a station that is easy for all customers to understand |url=https://www.hankyu-hanshin.co.jp/legacy_data/ir/data/SR201304304N1.pdf |url-status=live |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20210410181812/https://www.hankyu-hanshin.co.jp/legacy_data/ir/data/SR201304304N1.pdf |archive-date=10 April 2021 |access-date=27 February 2022 |website=Hanshin News Online |language=ja }}
