This album marks the return of Battiato to pop, after a period in which he substantially produced experimental music (1972–1978). The title song's theme, the "white boar", is inspired by an ancient Celtic myth.{{Cite web|url=https://ricerca.repubblica.it/repubblica/archivio/repubblica/1989/08/05/franco-battiato-dall-alla-zeta.html|title=Franco Battiato dalla A alla Z|author=Sebastiano Messina|work=la Repubblica|date=5 October 1989}}{{Cite web|url=https://www.ondarock.it/italia/francobattiato.htm|title=Franco Battiato - Evadere le regole dell'universo|work=Ondarock|author=Domenico Ruoppolo}}
