L3Harris Commercial Aviation Solutions (L3 CTS) is a flight training provider and manufacturer of civil flight simulators based in Crawley, England. It is part of L3Harris, and was formed as L-3 Link Simulation & Training UK in 2012, when L3 acquired the civil fixed-wing simulation division of Thales Training & Simulation (TTS).{{cite news|title=Thales UK sells aircraft simulator arm for £83m|url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-19182731|accessdate=1 May 2016|work=BBC News|date=8 Aug 2012}}{{cite news|last1=Hoyle|first1=Craig|title=L-3 Link targets simulator sales growth|url=https://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/l-3-link-targets-simulator-sales-growth-415730/|accessdate=1 May 2016|work=Flightglobal|date=8 Sep 2015}}
History
L3 CTS was incorporated in 2006 as "L-3 Communications Group Limited", acting as holding company for the L-3 group in the United Kingdom. In 2012, when TTS was partially acquired, the company's name was changed to "L-3 Communications Link Simulation and Training UK Limited" (L-3 Link UK).{{cite web|title=L-3 COMMUNICATIONS LINK SIMULATION AND TRAINING UK LIMITED|url=https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/05815706|website=Companies House|accessdate=1 May 2016}}
In May 2015, the subsidiary L-3 CTC was formed, following the acquisition of British flight training provider CTC aviation,{{cite press release |title=L-3 Acquires CTC Aviation Group |url=http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20150528005791/en/ |location=New York |agency=Business Wire |date=28 May 2015 |access-date=2 May 2016}} and in July 2016, L-3 Link UK and L-3 CTC were consolidated into L3 Commercial Training Solutions.{{cite press release |title=L-3 Announces Formation of Commercial Training Solutions Division |url=http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20160707006405/en/L-3-Announces-Formation-Commercial-Training-Solutions-Division |location=New York |agency=Business Wire |date=7 July 2016 |access-date=8 July 2017}}
L3 CTS and TTS are still co-located on the same site in Manor Royal, Crawley, and share the same ancestry, rooted in the US simulation business created by Ed Link in the 1930s and in the British simulator manufacturer Redifon (later Rediffusion).{{cite web|title=History|url=https://www.link.com/about/pages/history.aspx|website=L-3 Link Simulation & Training|accessdate=1 May 2016|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20170606213135/https://www.link.com/about/pages/history.aspx|archive-date=6 June 2017|url-status=dead}}
Recently, L3 Airline Academy has been granted the contract to train the RAF (Royal Air Forces) Multi Engine Aircraft pilots.
