LP-44 is a drug which acts as a potent and selective agonist at the 5HT7 serotonin receptor. While LP-44 is less selective than the related compound LP-12, it has been more widely used in research and has been used to show the complex role of 5-HT7 receptors in several aspects of brain function, including regulation of the sleep-wake cycle and roles in stress, learning and memory.{{cite journal |vauthors=Monti JM, Leopoldo M, Jantos H |title=The serotonin 5-HT7 receptor agonist LP-44 microinjected into the dorsal raphe nucleus suppresses REM sleep in the rat |journal=Behavioural Brain Research |volume=191 |issue=2 |pages=184–9 |date=August 2008 |pmid=18466985 |doi=10.1016/j.bbr.2008.03.025 |s2cid=14310667 }}{{cite journal |vauthors=Xu Y, Zhang C, Wang R, Govindarajan SS, Barish PA, Vernon MM, Fu C, Acharya AP, Chen L, Boykin E, Yu J, Pan J, O'Donnell JM, Ogle WO |title=Corticosterone induced morphological changes of hippocampal and amygdaloid cell lines are dependent on 5-HT7 receptor related signal pathway |journal=Neuroscience |volume=182 |pages=71–81 |date=May 2011 |pmid=21371532 |doi=10.1016/j.neuroscience.2011.02.042 |s2cid=1452141 }}{{cite journal |author=Monti JM |title=Serotonin control of sleep-wake behavior |journal=Sleep Medicine Reviews |volume=15 |issue=4 |pages=269–81 |date=August 2011 |pmid=21459634 |doi=10.1016/j.smrv.2010.11.003 }}{{cite journal |vauthors=Costa L, Trovato C, Musumeci SA, Catania MV, Ciranna L |title=5-HT(1A) and 5-HT(7) receptors differently modulate AMPA receptor-mediated hippocampal synaptic transmission |journal=Hippocampus |volume= 22|issue= 4|pages= 790–801|date=April 2011 |pmid=21538661 |doi=10.1002/hipo.20940 |s2cid=718851 }}
