Lahaina Gateway is a shopping mall located in Lahaina, Hawaii. The mall was completed in April 2008 and covers approximately {{convert|137,000|sqft|m2|sigfig=2}} of retail space on two floors. It has been managed and owned by various companies, and the mall itself has been in foreclosure on two occasions. Some of the current tenants at the center include Barnes & Noble, Lahaina's Department of Motor Vehicles offices, and a Foodland Farms grocery store. Lahaina Gateway was inspired by traditional Hawaiian architecture, with some of the buildings' facades featuring stucco accents.

Background

Lahaina Gateway opened in April 2008, becoming the largest shopping center in western Maui. The mall was developed by Bilarjo LLC with Kiewit Construction serving as its contractor.{{cite web|title=Commercial: Lahaina Gateway|url=http://wpibuilds.com/projects/lahaina-gateway/|publisher=Western Partitions, Inc.|access-date=February 3, 2017}} It took approximately 13 months to construct the {{convert|136,683|sqft|m2|sigfig=2}} of retail space across 11 acres,{{cite news|title=TNP Strategic Retail Trust Acquires Lahaina Gateway in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii|url=https://mauinow.com/2012/10/19/lahaina-gateway-center-changing-hands/ }}{{cite web|title=About Lahaina Gateway –|url=http://www.lahainagateway.com/information.php|publisher=Lahaina Gateway|access-date=February 3, 2017|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160806155236/http://www.lahainagateway.com/information.php|archive-date=August 6, 2016|url-status=dead}} TNP Strategic Trust acquired the center, which had gone into foreclosure, in 2011 for approximately US$32 million.{{cite news|author1=Retail Traffic staff|title=Central Pacific Bank Sells Lahaina Gateway Out of REO for $32M|url=http://nreionline.com/finance/central-pacific-bank-sells-lahaina-gateway-out-reo-32m|access-date=February 3, 2017|publisher=National Real Estate Investor|date=November 19, 2012}} However, TNP Chief Executive Anthony Thompson remarked that despite news of foreclosure, the center was receiving strong leasing inquiries. Design and tenants

The shopping center is designed in the image of traditional Hawaiian towns. It consists of various buildings, some of which have a "plantation style" appearance while others are more influenced by modern architecture.
