A global sea level rise of roughly {{convert|25|metres|feet|sigfig=1}} would cause the ocean surface to be higher than the highest point of an area between the ocean and the Caspian, forming a narrow channel straddling the lake in the area between the Sea of Azov and the Caspian Sea, potentially placing the Caspian Depression area underwater.[http://www.globalwarmingart.com/sealevel?lat=46.295&lng=42.783&zoom=5 Sea Level Rise Explorer] {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110718073222/http://www.globalwarmingart.com/sealevel?lat=46.295&lng=42.783&zoom=5 |date=2011-07-18 }}[http://flood.firetree.net/?ll=45.6448,49.5703&z=13&m=14 Flood Maps]
